Angry Katana 2 with aluminium base plate??

I 've purchased a Katana 2 for my system, and when I've opened the box I've seen that it's base plate isn't cooper as I've seen in all the photographs around the web (your site included).

I'm quite dissapointed, as it seems that you have changed the base to aluminium in order to cut costs, but the price I've paid is the same as for the model with cooper base

After looking again at the box there's a small photograph where the base it's shown and yes it isn't cooper, but nowhere I can see any word about this "small" divergence from the only model you show on your web. The model number is exactly the same SCKTN-2000, but the base is completly different.

The S/N is SCKTN2000000310D can someone please confirm me that this isn't just a bad joke?

I haven't installed it yet, and I'm thinking in exchanging it from another model from someone else that doesn't try to cheat it's costumers

Please help made up my mind!!

EDIT: Only in the japanese site it's shown the version I have. After a quick online translation it seems that from 2007-12-07 the Katana 2 no longer has cooper base and that there isn't efficiency difference due to this modification (well not really sure about this point, as you can see here: Thermal conductivity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia cooper rates nearly twice as high as aluminum when it comes to transfer heat)

Hello pepelu,

the base plate is definitely not in aluminum. It's just nickel-plated copper.

OK, thanks for the explanation, if it's true, then I must apologize for my first post , but both european and american site should be updated with this info.

Hi,

yeah it's true. But I am not sure if we have to state that part. Aluminum and nickel-plated copper have very different colors and structure. So we get this question not often =P
