Default Kama Connect 2 won't install.

Just got this today, tried installing it.
It went through some of the install process, asks me to restart.
So, i restart.
I turn on Kama Connect 2, it detects something, but then it just stalls for awhile.

I tried to install the devices manually, but it can't find any drivers for ST332082 0A USB Device, which is the Seagate drive if i'm correct.

It is a 3.5" Seagate IDE drive, 320GB.
It works in another PC perfectly fine.
Using Windows XP SP2.

Any help? :|
How would i remove any drivers that have been installed for this already and perhaps try it again?

Also, there seems to be a driver conflict between this and the 3 mobile modem device.
The modem just doesn't function within Windows whenever the KC2 is connected.

I uninstalled the drivers and done a reinstall.
It appears to have installed fully this time.

But when i am in Cable Select, the drive has a driver loaded, but the drive doesn't show
When i put it in Master, no drivers are known for the ST332082 0A USB Device. (which completely confuses me)

Hi there,

what exactly means "the drive doesn't show" in that case? Have you had a look in the disk management-tool, if the harddisk shows up but is just not active?

What is quite strange is, that the HDD works fine in another PC which makes me think, this could be a problem related to the PC and no to the HDD. You are writing something about a driver conflict between USB-HDD and mobile modem. What happens, if you remove the modem, just installing the HDD?

Cheers,
Stefan

Hey,

Please never use Cable-Select, it is a confusion for most USB devices. State is as Primary, also please use supplied USB cable! Do you connect directly to the USB Port on the back I/O side of the Motherboard?

Does the drive show up in Hardware manager and Drive management tool?

Well, i have managed to get a 2.5" IDE drive working in it fine.

As for the drive not showing, it won't register in explorer or any file managers. (including the disk management applet)
When i put my 3.5" IDE drive in, turn it on, the drive spins up, the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon appears in the system tray, but no drive ever shows in any file managers.
When i click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon, this shows:
http://hunnter.googlepages.com/KAMAPROP.JPG
Can't understand why it won't load drivers for the drive...
And the drive is definitely working, i just tested it again in another computer to be sure.
Tried putting it into different modes, cable select, master etc., nothing ;_;

If only my other drive worked, but i think its electronics are fried, or possibly something else inside near the heads... i hate HDDs! (especially Seagate, never getting anything from them again!)

Oh, and the driver conflict thing.
Well, basically neither of them work when they are both plugged in.
When i remove one of them, the other loads up as if it was just inserted / turned on, put it back in and it ceases to function.

Hi Hunnter,

please try to remove all (!) USB-Ports manually in your device-manager. Then reboot without the HDD connected, wait until mouse, keyboard etc. is installed before connecting the HDD.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi,

I see. That is a bit more clear. Few more questions until we can really analyze the whole issue.
  • Do you connect the S-ATA drive alone or with other drive to Kama Connect 2?
  • Do you use the original Scythe USB Cable?
  • Can you try to connect to the USB on the I/O Panel Side of the Mobo?
  • Try to connect the Kama Connect 2 with the HDD at different PCs. (I am not sure how you connected it to other PCs before, so I ask detailed)
Cheers,
Andy

Sorry about the delay.
Anyway,
>hiroshige: tried that, still the same..

>Shinigami:
Well, i connected it alone, i don't have any other drives on S-ATA, except from the one in this PC which is the OS, so thats out for now.

I use the original cable that came with it.
When i plug everything in, the drive spins up, but does nothing else.

I'm not entirely sure how to do the 3rd...
Do you just mean the ports at the back of the case? Or internally, on the actual motherboard?

And i will try the different PC ASAP.
As for the drive connected to the other PC, well, i put it in the normal way, using the 2nd bay on it. Works on there fine, but it just fails to show any files when i plug it in through KC2..

Hello hunnter,

did you ever try to connect the HDD internally? Does this work?

Cheers,
Stefan

Connected the HDD internally without KC2, works fine.

Also, just found out it won't connect a SATA 3.5" drives either, and on a completely different computer too (also, the 3.5" IDE doesn't work on that one either)
I think this KC2 may have possibly messed up or something.
The SATA 3.5" shows in the device manager, but the drive never shows up in any file managers.
