Hi and Welcome!

There are more differences than just the pouch. One of the most advantages is the direct support of 2,5" HDDs which can be directly connected to the Kama Connect 2. The Switch for HDD Power is set on the unit itself so you have easy access and control. These are the most important features.

Update:

Hi,

yeah, it is, but I need to make some! I try to do it tomorrow, but it will take time as I'm a bit busy.

Greetings,
Andy

Question Logical partitions, SATAII/300, old HDD connect, 1 Tb HDD

Hi,
I want to buy one of Scythe Kama connection 2 SCUPS-2000 unit.

So I have a couple of unanswerred questions(unanswerred by retailer):

What happens if I connect this module to the disc (doesnt matter SATA or IDE), where there are logical partitions?

Do the partitions show up correctly?

Does this unit support old HDD? For example Seagate 1.6 Gb (exact model unknown)? I found out, that some units of different manufacturers do not support these old drives - maybe it is common problem of such units generally...

Does this unit support copying of bigger files (ie 10Gb)? (reason of asking same as previous question)

Does this unit support 1TB SATA drives? (not tested because of unavailibility of these HDDs..probably)

Does this unit support internally SATA2 (respectively SATAII/300) bus? This is maybe stupid question, because of limitation of USB2 bus between PC and unit, but I am just interested.

Thanks for you answers

Pierre

Hi Pierre1980!

Sorry, I oversaw your post. Here comes the reply ;D

You connect the Hard Disk over USB. It will be recognized and shown similar to a USB Stick Storage. Partitions will be used same as if you connect the HDD to the PC over S-ATA or IDE. So there is no problem with logical Partitions.

No one will ever guarantee that all new or all old HDDs will work. You can say that most of the HDDs work fine and there are no problems, but some old HDD might be a problem. I can not say if your 1,6GB HDD will work but I assume it will.

If you copy 10Gb size files you should make sure to set up the Partition to NTFS for windows, as FAT32 will not support this, it has nothing to do with the Kama Connect.

Well, how do you plan to force the faster speed over USB? If there is USB3.0 maybe. S-ATA 2 Standard is basically supported, but some features might not work. You can check the manual of the Kama Connect 1 and Kama Connect 2 if you like.
