Unhappy Very slow transfer with big DV files

I archive my DV video files to 'bare' IDE drives. And later I edit and compile these using Adobe Premiere. If I connect one of these drives using Kama 2 I get very slow data rates (maybe 1 Gb/hour!). I notice that there is hard drive activity as soon as I drag the DV files to the timeline. And I suspect that the combination of this, plus reading the same files as I compile the footage, is choking the Kama interface.
I've just tried one of my old IDE to USB devices (nowhere near as nicely engineered as Kama 2!) and this does not have the same problem. I get transfer rates of around 20Gb/hour. So is there some way to speed up the interface. I have tried both 'Performance' and 'Quick Disconnect' options in Windows Device Manager, but both seem to give the same datarate.
Regards, Andy Boyd

Hi,

Can you probably test with a different USB Cable and in a different USB Port? The transfer-rate is somewhere like 30mb/s. So basically the unit should be able to operate fast. Can you run hdtach ?
