same problem here. All was OK with the SATA drive. When i attach an IDE 3.5'' drive something is going wrong. The data transfer is ridiculously small, also the sound of the drive is not normal. I have checked that when I plugin the power adapter to the drive from a molex of my PC power suppply, evrething is OK. So I agree that something is wrong with the power adapter of the kamma connect 2. Really disappointed.... |

jrg: Are you using all the supplied cables? Do you have Kama Connect 1 or 2?
If it is about the AC-Adapter, I think we can solve this by exchanging the AC_Adapter. Please contact me via PM for further steps.

The problem is with kama connect 2. And yes, I'm using all the cables supplied in the box. From the "experiment" i reported before, it seems clear that there is a power issue. What i don't know is wether the problem is with AC_adapter or with the cable that provides the power to the ide drive from the kama connect.

After having found this forum I tried powering the disk from a spare power supply and immediately had very fast access for the same PATA disk using all the same cables using the kama connect 2 over USB. The only thing I changed was to unplug the supplied molex power cable, and plug in one from the external power supply. The speed up in copying is of order of 200Mbs taking over an hour to taking less than 15mins for 12Gb! For your information my supplied power supply model number is "SAW50-120-3000". |

hiroshige,
Many thanks for your offer to send a replacement molex cable. Please find address in PM as requested. The power brick itself is OK; I should have realised because the SATA disk was fine, it also later powered another enclosure without problems. You correctly noticed the problem is either the molex cable linking the kama connect box and the 3.5" IDE drive, or something internal in the box not passing the power to the connector which the molex cable connects to. Obviously some power is getting through as the drive does spin up, but not to full speed or constantly. The weird sound is the drive constantly trying to accelerate to full spin speed, failing and trying again, giving a repetitive whir with a frequency of about a second. Many thanks again for your offer. DeeJayTee |

Hi npn,
We are testing it, but we had no more in stock and also received a newer version of it, so we will test it and I hope to get the results ASAP. Keep you posted
