Default removing heatpipe "topnuts" for fitting cases ?

I would love being able to use a large (in terms radiating fins volume for heat dissipation) scythe heatsink (with at least 120mm fan) such as the mugen2 or ninja2 but they seems to be 3 to 5 mm too tall for my 4u rack pc case.

Could you make the following models or some future models just a bit less tall in terms of uneffective (unradiating) height :
-mounting "stand base" : yes I know it is for better mobo compatibility (with close to cpu voltage regulation components) but I think you could make this base a bit less tall and still have as much compatibility
-not put anymore the kind of (screw) nuts on top of heatpipes which I think take up a bit of vital space for nothing usefull (looks ?)

On this last point :
Can I buy a ninja2 (or mugen2) and remove these kind of "boltnuts" (unscrewing them ?) so as to gain some precious mm (how many on ninja2 ?) so it fits in my case ! ?

Also I would love to see again more versions or new models using copper (plated or not) fins for highest performance.

Thank you, BTW : nice brand, performances, quality, looks, packaging, and european importer and usefull forum ! keep up the good work

Hi, any reply from scythe ?
I do not want to cut the heatpipe at all nor even damage them...
I want to gain some room by removing the (cosmetic?) topnuts (2 to 3mm) so as to be able to use a scythe performing model in my pc case... Is it possible without damage ?
Thanks in advance

Hello ejaouen,

If you only speak about to remove the caps at the end of the heatpipes, than "yes" - it is possible to remove the caps but you lose your warrenty and win only 2 mm. I would not recommend it to you to cut the caps off.

Kind Regards
Chris
