HI,

yeah it even looks like you can remove the rails by pushing them ti the right side when you look based on the picture. Try it please, I think they will unseal the mounting screw-holes.

Cheers

I don't want to abuse this thread but I wanted to mention that in my specific system configuration removal of the dust filter of Kama Bay decreased idle & load temperatures significantly (and it's reproducable).

With the better airflow I achieved these temps:

Idle now 30-32°C, before 33-36°C
Load Orthos now 53-55°C, before 55-57°C
Load Intel TAT now 58-60°, before 64°C

As soon as I add the dust filter again, temps go up.

Hi Oli,

The filter is actually pretty thin and didn't look like much resistance to me. But seems you tested it a couple times and since it is 800RPM it might be that the dust filter decreases the airflow. Thanks for the info.

I neverever imagined that this effect could happen. I found that out by suprise. As a positive result I of this better airflow I could decrease the RPMs of 2 fans from 1000 to 900.

I also noticed that the distance between Ninja and the rear case fan is that short that my "duct project" can probably not be realized. I'll keep an eye an this matter.

Oli,

looks like you are alwys in the forum, really interesting

The reason for this should be the static pressure, the air is not coming in straight and get blocked a bit by the dust filter. If you want a better result you might need to replace the fan, but I'd say it is ok as it is if you just remove the dust filter.

The duct project is interesting, I hope you can still make something.

Greets,
Andy

Oh no, the browser is online and refreshing itself while I am doing my work.

The gap from rear to Ninja is only about 3-5 cm so I have to check if I can compress the Thermalright duct that much.

Unfortunately on thermalright.com there is no technical data concerning maximum AND minimum length of the duct.

Referring to this pictures it'll definitely be too long:

Hi Oliver,

Yep, judging by the referred image, this should be too long if you have maybe like 40mm or even 50mm, as there is some additional plastic. Looks like this is a no go.

I have also a KAMA BAY , and of course I have eliminated the dust filter to increase the speed of the Airflow (I always cut or eliminate the dust filters ) and I use a vacuum machine to remove the dust inside the PC once in a while , to improve the Airflow in the KAMA BAY is better to increase a little bit the diameter of the holes in the metallic mesh , actually are about 1mm ( too small ) , this need to be increased to 3mm or 5mm at least ,the holes in the front 5.25 metallic bay mesh covers of the Antec 900/1200 are a good example of this ,the big holes in the front 5.25 bay mesh cover of the Antec 900/1200 allow plenty of Airflow ( of course without the dust filters )
