Default knobs

some time ago i asked about kaze master:

> how about revision 2.0 with shorter knobs for cases with doors ?
> or knobs which can be pushed in and out of the unit (spring, lock and release) ?
> or replacable different-length knobs ?

i was told that the subject will be raised on a product meeting.
in the meantime couple new models got to the market and nothing has changed.

is there a chance that we will have such a model in the near future ?
or is there an explanation that we will never have anything like it ?

Hello ciukacz,

actually the dials on Kaze Server are only 10 mm in lenght - Kaze Master are all 12 mm. You have to think about optimizing cost and benefit - when building a product with lock an release, it would be more expensive etc.

Of course we are thinking about being able to produce products which fits to all customers needs, but as you can imagine, this can be difficult.

A push-release function also is something which could be defective which means that there is one more error-source and the product would be more fragile.

But: Thanks a lot for re-asking you questions, I will forward them to our product management.

Cheers,
Stefan - Scythe EU Hamburg

Default Good Idea,

I too have a door on my case and while I like that Scythe reduced the length of the knobs, it still does not really help me. If spring-loaded potentiometers are possible Scythe should definitely go for it, after all car manufactures use to do it all the time with their radios for fade and balance controls.

As of right now I'm thinking of getting a Kaze Server controller and then making my own spring loaded mount so the whole unit will slide back into the drive bay when I want to close the case door. I think I'll just cut some rails out of the sides in line with the mounting holes and then mount it on somewhat loose nuts, bolts, and washers.

I haven't figured out an elegant way to lock it in place yet though. I want to push the controller back further when it is already inside the case to unlock the spring, and also be able to push it in to engage the lock when I'm done with the unit, if you know what I mean.

-Any cleaver ideas?

It would be easier just to have the pot's spring loaded, alas maybe the next model. They just keep getting better, anyone know when a new model could be expected? Also would love to see Scythe go for a 6 fan unit with temp and rpm info, not a lot of controllers like that are out there.
