Question Kama Meter Multi-Function controller problem

Hi, I am not sure where to post this to be honest as there isn't a dedicated thread for controllers... in any case I am going to post in the hope someone can help! I bought 2 Scythe Kama Meters, I have 7 fans that need attaching. I put 3 fans on one controller and 4 on the other, with associated temperature probes. Everything installed and worked OK, but after about 10 minutes or so the controller with the 4 fans stopped working and the display turned black. I unplugged everything and just had it plugged on it's own via power cable and still nothing (with no fans or temp probes). So I put in an RMA for another from scan.co.uk and it arrived today... unfortunately the exact same thing has happened. This is driving me crazy hehe. Where am I going wrong here? The first one with the 3 fans is still working fine, I just can't seem to get the second one to work. Each fan is identical, the rated voltage for each is DC 12V, maybe 4 of those is too much for the controller and I have blown something inside? Or maybe I am not supposed to use 2 controllers in a PC, but each controller has it's own dedicated power lead coming off the PSU. So it is not sharing power from other devices from the same lead. I am going to call Scan again but thought I would try here first. I really like the controller but if it doesn't work I may have to find a different one for the other 4. Thanks in advance. Motoko

I have a Kama meter on one of my cases and it works pretty good with 3 fans on it currently. Chances are you're blowing out the fan controller with too much power draw from your fans. I haven't seen any specs on what the limits are for each fan or the total wattage that can be drawn though. Maybe if somebody could print this spec somewhere less people would end up burning it up.

On a side note, 7 fans? That seems a bit excessive, can you even hear yourself think around it?

found the spec, it only lists per channel, not total. I'm assuming the total allowable draw is probably less than 4A though.
Maximum current per Channel:
1 Ampere (= max. 12W consumption)

Hi,

I don't receive many "Dead On Arrival"(DOA) units to start with. The problem is, that there is a limit for the Kama Meter to deal with fans. If you overload it with too much wattage consumption of fans, it might just die. I never had a Kama Meter die on me, and I ran 4 fans at the same time already, nothing happened, everything worked well. Could you tell me the exact name and model number of the used fans? I would like to find out the reason for it and make sure you won't have another dead unit

Andy

Question another question

I'd like to know the exact datas of kama meter's knobs - their hight and their distances from the sides (left and right) of the 5,25" controller.

Would be helpful to know if the front door of my case could still be closed.

...If someone has already experiences with such problems or even solutions pleeeaaase tell me

Thanks

Chris
