Default Kaze Master Ace: Channel 2 stuck

Hey guys,

I bought the KMA a while back, and it came to me with 2 dead channels, so after a replacement directly from you, it has been working fine. Now, all of a sudden, the second channel seems to be stuck. Turning the knob in either direction does nothing.

Originally, the fan would be stuck at ~1350RPM (2000RPM fans), but today it seems to have dropped down to ~1200RPM. The knob just seems totally unresponsive. What's going on? Am I going to have to RMA again?

Got an update. Booted up the PC this morning and the channel is totally dead. The fan does not spin no matter where the rheobus is positioned, and the alarm does not go off.

I'm going to have to RMA again aren't I?

Hi there Skiddywinks,

What kind of fan do you use and are several of those fans connected? Is only one fan per channel connected?

If the channel is dead, then I suppose this is a RMA case unfortunately. But before sending it anywhere, I'd like to know how you use it, as it could be an overload of a channel and it would happen over and over if that's the case.

Well the first time I used the controller, it was using only the one fan per channel. Either way, that was DOA.

Currently I use two fans per channel. The detailed specifications can be found here. I asked around some hardware forums I frequent to make sure the fans would work without damaging the controller, and the answer was a unanimous yes. Also, they have been working perfectly in such a setup from when I received the controller until now.

Thanks for the reply.

The first one seems DOA, I understand.

But for using 2 fans per channel is not really what we support. The max. Wattage per channel is 10W but using 2 fans is not really what we recommend. The fan reached 4,5W which means both were around 9 then. The thing can run well in the beginning, but if it overloads the controller, constantly, the channel seem to die. So everytime I hear that I channel dies after a while, it was when few fans were connected.

We could go through RMA again, because there is no helping it now. But I would suggest to use only one fan per channel.

Third one just died :/

Understood. In my defence, the only reason I got a fan controller was so that I wouldn't have to run my fans at full speed the whole time, so I don't know if the quoted 4.56W is an accurate figure of actual usage.

However, I have learnt my lesson, and am in fact very grateful for the fact you are even still allowing an RMA when the fault lies with my lack of knowledge. Single fans only it is.

Thank you for the replies thus far. It makes all the difference.

Where should I send the controller? I have the original box and packaging for shipping. I always keep boxes. It drives friends and family mad :P

Hi Skiddywinks,

There should be just one fan per channel is my understanding and another fail kind of proofs it, because the fan controller should basically work, work and work.

Unfortunately you have to pay the shipping cost again, but I guess this goes for as "lesson" as well =P

Ship it to:
Scythe EU GmbH
Willinghusener Weg 5c
22113 Oststeinbek
Germany

Please add the invoice and a short report on what happened, or it will take us time to find out :P

Unfortunately, I do not have the invoice anymore, but I did take a screenshot last time of the order screen from Overclockers UK. Do you have an email address I could send this to?

As for the postage cost; it's small punishment at the end of the day!

Ok, then you should ask the shop where you bought it, costs you way less and they will do the RMA for you too. I can then give you the technical support, and you can inform them that you have checked with Scythe first. This would be the proper way. Overclockers Uk should also have the invpoice anyway, because they issued it.

Thanks for the advice. I have sent an RMA webnote to OCUK, so should hear from them soon. I will keep you informed.
