In my Vista SP1 64bit PC the 4 card reader drives of the YD-8V08 are visible at the desktop. The floppy drive is working. If a put a card in the device, f.i. a CF card, all 4 drive icons disappear from the desktop. Pulling the card out, all desktop become visible again. I tried everything, like remove the drivers and let Vista install them after reboot, etc., but no solution was able to make the card reader usable.
What could be the problem? |

Hello Rover,
Thank you very much for your inquiry and trust in Scythe items. The problem sounds like the typical lack of power for USB issue. As soon as you plug in the Cf or other card, the card reader seems to be overlaoded or to lack the power.
Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy,
I tried the CF card reader with 3 different CF-cards. The icons were gone after insertion of any of these cards. I monitored the voltage of the mobo: 4,95V stable with or without CF card. The card reader has been connected directly to a Gigabyte UD4P mobo via headerpin. The power supply used is BeQuiet! Dark Pro 650W. ![]() A Memory Stick Duo card via the adapter is not recognised at all (no green lights), but the icons stay present. ![]() The SD-card reader works fine.

Hi Rover,
Sorry, that you had to wait for so long ![]() Did you send the unit or what is the progress? In BIOS all USB connectors are enabled? It sounds like an RMA case, if this is not about the motherbaords side. You need to send the device back to the shop where you have bought it.
