Default Temperature Measurement Tools

There are many tools which could be used to measure the CPU, Northbridge and HDD temperatures. The below tools are recommended and should help you monitoring all or only some special sensors.

Core Temp
This is a tool which is dedicated to show you the Core temperature(s) of latest Core 2? and Athlon 64 CPU Series. The temperatures are not to be compared to the former ways of measurement, because the sensor is located very close to the core and should be more accurate there for.

Speedfan
Can be used for all kind of sensors and allows you to control some of the fans which are connected to the motherboard. This tool is handy and can show you more than just temperature but also CPU Load, supports the S.M.A.R.T. feature and could generate a chart of most of the values which are read by the tool itself.

Everest
This tool has a lot of features which are really handy but it the monitoring options are the most important in this case. Under the Option ?Computer? and then ?Sensor? you can find all the important information about fan speed and temperatures.

I hope these informations can help you.

Default NextSensor for amd only

Showshock Softnology Website

  • Extremely easy and handy to use temperature, fan speed and voltage reporting tool.
  • NextSensor dynamically reads and shows current values of the following sensor lines: VCore, VDIMM, VAGP, VLDT, VBAT, 5VSB, 3VSB, +12, -12, +5V, -5V, +3.3V.
  • The program reports a temperature of the processor, the North Bridge and the Hard Disk in the Tray Bar using separate LED indicators.
  • The program is capable to monitor negative temperatures and three FAN speeds.
  • NextSensor supports a lot of popular Winbond, Fintek and ITE Super I/O LPC chips.
  • Also, profided an ability to read temperature measurements of on-die AMD64 thermal diode.
  • Besides, NextSensor incorporates a unique Remote Monitor function that enables system administrators to watch the temperatures, voltages and fan speeds in LAN or via Internet using any web browser!
  • The most strong side of NextSensor is the Thermal Alarm function. This feature prevents processor from overheating by using a CPU clock throttling method.
  • In case, if the AMD64 processor is used in the system there is an additional protective method based on FID/VID and P-State changes.

Hi all

Can I add H Monitor

It is a very good tool for measuring and recording temps.
The only downside is that it does cost up to $30, but will worth it
as I find it quicker to respond to temp changes on various devices
Address is;

www.hmonitor.net

Regards

doc

Sensor's View Pro. Try it out for free.....it is cheap to buy, and you get free upgrades forever after buying it once. I was using the old version when version 3.1 came out....an Email got me a new serial#.

Of course it measures all temperatures, and fan speeds, runs a chart to show the changes......but it can also show CPU usage, memory usage, HD usage, and network activity, and give warnings about high temps.

I like the look of the thing.....it's the best-looking program out there. You can remove the background so just the numbers show, change all the colors, etc. In any case...try it out for free.

One thing to watch out for......many of these sensor monitoring programs will conflict with each other if you run them at the same time. My LIS2 fan controller requires Speedfan be running to operate properly........I can run Speedfan and Sensor'sView at the same time without problems. And I do because of the Sensor'sView interface(it's so pretty/useful).

cputemp

A Windows tool which directly reads the core temp(s) of Intel® Core and Intel® Core2 processors. It can log to a file, and it can start a batch file whenever those temperatures exceed a certain limit. Unlike other such programs, it doesn't guess Tjunction based on a table of known CPUs, but finds out Tjunction itself by reading Bit 30 of MSR 0xEE ("1"=85°C, "0"=100°C).
Also, contains Core2MaxPerf which maximizes processor load on all cores to reach the highest possible temperature on those CPUs (similar to Intel® TAT (Thermal Analysis Tool)). Although, tools like OCCT (OCCT Website) may be better for that task due to their ability to detect errors in the heating process.

Heads-up here.....the program NextSensor talked about in an above post, is consistently picked out by the AVG anti-virus utility as containing a virus of some sort. I'd be careful and check the program carefully.
