Sup,
I'm thinking about applying a different heatsink to my Club 3D HD4870 1024MB OC Edition graphic card, cause the default one is quiet loud, I turned down my kabuto fan and case fan and all you hear is the graphics fan, also when cpu fan and case fan are at max speed. In games the fan of the vga cooler also turns up and gets even louder. Also with the standard heatsink on the praphic card I can't control the fan speed with CCC I guess it has something to do with the Club3d Bios on it.
I wonder if it might be dangerous to change the heatsink, cause I read some articles which describe high temperatures on those little voltage transformers I guess thats why I made some photos of the back of my graphic card to let you see if there might be any problems.
The vrams are cooled with thin copper plates and in the back there's another small heatsink. Can I simply let these on or do I have to change them with the ones of the setsugen?
Another thing I noticed is that the setsugen seems to be pretty high, it reaches like 20-30mm (don't know exactly)over the top of the graphic card, so I'm afraid I can't close the side of my case then. My Case is a Enermax Vostok black.
Here are the pics of my current graphic card layout:
