I'm sure the Scythe staff will comment on this next week but AFAIK the backplate installation is a MUST for mounting of Mugen 2 therefore you'll have to remove the stock backplate which results in losing your warranty.

There are no other clips delivered with Mugen 2 that would allow an alternative mounting method on Socket 1366 as the only other thinkable possibility would be converting to Socket 478 like the good old Scythe Retention Kit did but on Socket 1366 this would also result in removing the stock backplate as prerequisite for installing the Socket 478 rails. So this is also a dead end.
