Hi Scyth,
Apparently there are Heatsinks made for Fanless use like Orochi, Ninja 1/2 and the good old NCU2005. All this Heatsinks are designed to use in fanless mode. But every heatsink, especially in fanless mode is restricted by the CPUs TDP. So normaly 65W CPUs can cooled fanless. All above is more tricky. But we show what is possible on the cebit, where we cool a Phenom 2 940 BE fanless with our Orochi.
Every fan in the case which improves the airflow will have effect the CPU temps in this way.
You can use the S-Flex in booth positions. it's only a quastion of "i want more airflow" or "i want more silence". If you want Silence: S-Flex. If you want Airflow: Slip Stream.
The RPMs depends on your PWM Settings in your Bios, so if you set these right it possible to reach 200 rpm or 0 rpm. In this case i can say that C&Q have no direct effect to the fan speed. C&Q drop down the frequency/voltage of your CPU, this effects lower temps, pwm is controlled by temperature, in the end: lower temperature effects in lower rpms.
cheers Chris
