Hi!

First of all, I would like to express, that I only post to this forum, because I have the impression that Scythe really cares about what is written here (at least Shinigami does ;-) ).

I'm about to build a new PC for the upcoming christmas season and this time, I want to focus on quiet / silent, yet affordable components.

Needless to say, that Scythe products are very well suited for this purpose.

I think that many people out there are going through a very similar process right now.

Arising questions:
1) Which CPU cooler?
2) Which GPU cooler?
3) Which fans (CPU, GPU, case)?
4) How to ensure that all fans operate at minimum rpms for given temperature threshold?

Of cause the answers to these question can't be given in a general way but I think the setup chosen by me would suit most users needs:

1 => Scythe Mugen
2 => Thermalright HR-03 or Zalman VF-1000 as no competetive Scythe product available (I know, yet!)
3 => Scythe fans (4 times 120mm Scythe Minebea Medium)
4 => Aqua Computer Aquaero 4.0 fully programmable (USB) fan controller


After all the necessary detective work, I learned 2 things:
a) A Scythe CPU cooler is on it's way (hopefully competetive)
b) Scythe's Kama Meter is not what an enthusiast "wants" if it comes to fan control.


CONCLUSION:

1.
To my knowlegde there are only two very small companies around that offer programmable fan controllers AT ALL! Both (Innovatek with the "fan-o-matic" and Aqua Computer with the "Aquaero") are GREAT products but come at a VERY high price (Aquaero ~ 100 € and fan-o-matic ~150 € !).

As Scythe has already set foot into the fan controller busyness, it would only be consequent to take it a bit more serious with a competetive top-notch product. I bet that both compnaies have HUGE margins on their programmable controllers.

As many people will have the same problem as I have (questions 1 to 4) and as Scythe has next to all solutions at it's hands, a "Scythe-Premium-Kit" would probably be a very seductive offer.

Such a Kit could (should) be comprised of a Mugen + GPU cooler (you name it) + 4 120mm fans (2 case, 1 GPU, 1 additional for running the Mugen in 2-fan configuration) + a decent fan controller (for the time being the Kama Meter would be OK).

Combine all these things together in a nice package, add some goodies (like hard-drive de-couplers, silencer pins, tape, thermal paste, long enough cables) and I'm quite sure, it will sell very well.

Offering such a Kit is probably more a marketing decision that's up to Scythe. I myself would really like to have such an offer.
But I have no clue, whether I represent a significant percentage of customers.

Concerning the fully programmable fan controller (the Aquaero even comes with open source controller software!), I realize that something like that would probably take a long time to develop. It might also not be very profitable, as only very few enthusiast seem to appreciate the additional control these devices give you over the "Kama Meter"-like rest of the fan controllers.

Still it would be a very nice addition to Scythe's superb product offering and even more help to strengthen the companies market position (but of course, I'm not the expert).
