Hi. I was trawling through the web and stumbled across this post. I would also like to report that I have had temperature issues with my AMD X2 4850e paired with Abit A-N78HD motherboard. I'm of the belief now that it is an AMD problem. In trying to solve the temperature issue, I replaced the CPU cooler with 3 different types, but to no avail. I currently have a mid-range Zalman 8700 cpu cooler attached. The CPU idles at 45C (room 31C) with fan at max RPM of 2600. When both CPU cores are at 100% and Zalman CPU fan is max RPM, CPU temp reaches 72C. This seems extraordinary high for a 45W TDP processor paired with a quality heatsink. Previoulsy, I built another computer for a friend's office with an AMD X2 BE2350 rated processor at 35W TDP. It idled just 4 degrees higher than room temp. I'm sure that the CPU temperature die is not calibrated correctly. It seems about 20C too high.
