Hi, i just bought one of these combo drives , pnp couldnt be easier work from the off but took vista a short while to install drivers, if your still in doubt about connecting your device then heres some info -:

on the rear of the unit near the middle at the end of the ribbon connector
you will find a small arrow on the casing , this is the end where the stripe on yor ribbon goes, as for the usb cable , one end connects inside the underneath of the drive and the other to an external or internal usb2.0 connector depending on which lead you are using , if using the internal then i believe the colour codes are as follows red=+5v white=D- green=D+ black=GND ,
you may need to check your mobo to see which way round the connector needs to be. if you dont have a usb2 mobo then it may only run in the slower usb1 mode.
