Default Kama Connect 2 corrupts my 3.5" IDE disk

I have a Western Digital WD1600 disk with Part Number WD1600JB-00FUA0.
The disk is formatted with NTFS and works just fine when connected to IDE controller on my WinXP SP2 computer, chkdsk shows no errors.

I then attach it to the Kama Connect 2, ensuring that it is configured as Single/Master. When connecting it to the USB port, I get the following message from Windows:
Windows - Corrupt File
The file or directory \ is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

Afraid of ruining all the data on the disk, I immediately disconnected the Kama Connect 2. I then put the disk back on the internal IDE connector. When booting Windows, chkdsk was automatically triggered and was able to recover the filesystem.

I tried to connect the disk with Kama Connect 2 a second time, with exactly the same result. So it is a repeatable problem.

It definitely looks like Kama Connect 2 corrupts the disk, and this does definitely not look like a high quality product.

What is the problem with Kama Connect 2 that causes this behavior, and what can be done to fix it?

Regards,
Steinar
