Wanted: Quality Zipang Backplate Mount Kit
Due to the weight of the Zipang, I would like to see a quality bolt-through mounting kit designed for the Zipang.
It would have a quality back plate, spring loaded bolts with hex heads. This would allow tension adjustment with the wrench, due to insufficient clearance to use a Phillips driver.
I want a kit that does not require a secondary copper interposer/shim, as does the Universal Kit. This shim is another layer of heat transfer impediment, and another potentialnon-flat condition between the processor and the Zipang. Multiple layers of paste are required... not an ideal solution.
The push-pin mount is common to Scythe coolers. Therefore, a bolt-through kit can also be common because the installed height of the Sycthe bracket matches the standard push-pin height. The secret is using hex head bolts.
The push-pin arrangement is flimsy at best. To insure security, the Zipang should be mounted with the board removed, so the push-pins can be inspected for fully locked position. The board is out anyway, why not install a quality bolt-through kit instead?
