Default ASUS P5Q-E issue

Hello (:

I posess:
Intel E8400
ASUS P5Q-E
Silverstone FT01
Scythe Orochi Rev. B

All components work fine with top 18cm case fan blowing directly onto the Orochi, while supplied one is blowing out down. At something around 28 degrees C. in the room, light CPU load, the temp keeps around 38-39 deg. C.

The question is:
I have managed to place the cooler on the mobo, however the metal assemly clips that came with the box are "hanging" on the backplate screws not having anything between them and mobo PCB.

This installation looks sort of bogus to me, and it seems that there's something vital missing. How I can fix this, please?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks.
